We are Pavement Pounders

There is a realization I have come to accept. It is comforting to know we are not the only family, because I have seen and read about others. They’re out there and you may have seen them yourself.

Sometimes, they appear in groups. Other times, you may see one, two, or maybe three of them together. I’m sure they too are not ashamed. I mean, why should they be? I pound proud and I am not ashamed to admit that my family, immediate and extended, are pavement pounders too. We are runners.

I would be bold enough to say it is in our genes, but that is too scientific and I really couldn’t explain it to you if I tried. Quite simply, we like running. I’m not sure how this one got in the family because she’s a speed walker, but we decided not to boot her out. It might be because she moves so fast that she might as well be running.

I have been pounding pavement for quite a few years. My love of running has earned me enough shirts over the years to wear a new one each day for about one month, I don’t remember when my love for running started, but once I got going, it was kind of hard to stop.

I love it so much that I married me a pavement pounder…

and with that, as it usually does happen, we are continuing the legacy by raising more little pavement pounders.

We are going to miss it, but my California family is continuing the annual tradition of running in the Bay to Breakers foot race which is celebrating its centennial this year. If you happen to be anywhere near by, then run or at least head to the Bay to watch this really wacky race.

Oh my goodness Lily looks so much like your sister. This is a wonderful tradition and legacy to have in a family.

Photos of hubby and daughter are wonderful. Don’t know what their site names are. Will be thinking of you tomorrow.

I am so glad to see another pavement pounding family! It seems like a lot of homeschooling mom’s are into nutrition, but the exercise portion of things kind of gets lost. I’m lucky enough to be married to a pavement pounder too…. he runs circles around me, but I’m working towards more speed! (Generally speaking, being pregnant for most of the last 7 years hasn’t helped, but I’m trying!) Thank you for commenting on my blog, it’s wonderful to have found you and I’m excited to read your posts!
