Life is Pretty Good!

About thirty minutes ago, I was hating everything about life in and of itself. Yeah, I know, I know…life is good, great for that matter! I have a wonderful family, blah, blah, blah, but it was 6am, dark outside, and all I wanted to do was roll over and go back to sleep. You see, I couldn’t because I had made a promise to myself the night before to get up and out of my bed to get ready for my morning run.

I have been making this wacky promise to myself for almost two months. Most mornings, I spring happily out of bed excited after hitting the snooze button on my IPod a few times and ready to stretch my legs, take in the morning air, and get into shape. It is just that, this morning, I wasn’t feeling it. Did I mention how much I LOVE my bed? “Yes,” it loves me back.

One of the reasons I get up so early to run is because it is quiet. It is good thinking time and sometimes good praying time (and that is for more than just praying I finish my run without passing out). I can take the new day in and watching the sun rise makes me eager for the day. I feel like I can do just about anything and my motivation for accomplishing much for the day is high. Plus, if I didn’t run in the morning and get it out of the way, then I probably wouldn’t run at all.

About thirty minutes ago, I wasn’t too happy with life, but right about now, I’m feeling pretty good and have a great day ahead of me. I hope you have a great day too.

Ahh yes the old get up early in the morning and exercise ploy.:P I tried that once, but unlike you I lack the motivation to get up out of my warm bed and move. I’m trying to fit my walk in in the afternoon. I’ll let you know how that works out.

That was a beautiful sunrise though. Definitely worth getting up and running for.

    Rana,

My motivation may waver as the mornings get colder. On the other hand, maybe not because I’ve had some of my best runs in really cold weather. Also, getting to see the sun rise is definitely a perk for running so early in the morning.

I hope the afternoon walks work out for you. Take your kids along. I’m sure they would be great company and the conversations quite amusing and fun.

If I had as beautiful neighborhood as yours to run, I’d be up and at it. But, I know, dawn is a bit depressing, until the sun begins to rise.
