Required reading list {River}

Before River learned how to read, I stressed. He must have been about three or four and he just wasn’t learning how to read as quickly as I thought he should. We put the books down and moved on to other activities and then, one day something clicked. I had my first reader on my hands. It was such a joy.

After he began reading, I wondered if he would acquire the love I have for books and begin picking up ones on his own to read and not just because “mommy said.” Well, he does that now, which is totally cool.

In between reading his choices, I have some books that I have assigned for him to read as part of his curriculum. I try to choose books where he will learn and also be entertained. Sometimes, I only accomplish one of those goals, but at least he is reading.

The following is River’s list of required reading books for the current school year. They are in no particular order.

If you have assigned books for your children and a reading list, then please share a link to your list.
