A Blog Recap of 2010

I should be in the bed right now, but when has the comfort of a fluffy pillow and warm blankets ever stopped a REAL blogger from writing just one more post? I found this blog carnival through No Ordinary Moments which I sometimes read after I get my fix from Jolanthe’s Homeschool blog that has become a daily addiction.

It seemed like a fun idea. After all, I have nothing better to do than finish preparing school lessons for next week, complete a few reviews, write a menu plan, and go to sleep. I figure why not.

Musings of a Housewife hosts this blog carnival recap. The following are the first lines from the first posts of each month of 2010. I decided to share the posts in my Captivated Kitchen and a few from other sections when I didn’t post a recipe for that month.

January: I almost grew up in Atlanta. Even though I’m glad I didn’t because I have such fond memories of California, I occasionally wonder what it would have been like for me growing up as a young black girl in a city rich with Black history.

Remembering a King

February: Okay. After you read this post, please don’t hate me or call me names. I apologize for not sharing this recipe with you sooner because it is absolutely delicious.

Sweet Potato Black Bean Chili

March: I love my double oven and I also love my counter mixer. These two tools make it difficult for me to imagine life during the colonial period.

Hartford Election Cake

April: Let’s face it. If it isn’t sugar, then the next best thing, cheese, will be the death of me yet.

Cheesy, Cheesy, Cheese Biscuits

May: Baking in the south is sure a whole lot easier than baking on the West Coast. When I set out a stick of butter to get to room temperature, my waiting period is a lot shorter than before.

Lemon Butter Pound Cake

June: I am a pretty patient person. Excuse me while I push my chair away from the computer for a great big belly laugh.

Lemon Blueberry Muffins

July: I really did try, but I just couldn’t do it. You see, I found a really easy lemon pie recipe and decided I would try making it.

Lemon Ice Box Pie

August: So many of the foods I make, other than peanut butter sandwiches which have also been made on the road after grabbing a jar of peanut and a loaf of bread from a store I passed while driving a car full of really hungry children, are made at home to be enjoyed at home.

Artichoke Hummus Wraps

I slept during the month of September.

October: It has been almost three months since I first heard it, but for some reason, I just can’t seem to get that song out of my head, “…at Saddle Ridge Ranch. Roundin’ up questions, drivin’ home answers,” and it just repeats continuously.

A Week on the Ranch

November: About thirty minutes ago, I was hating everything about life in and of itself. Yeah, I know, I know…life is good, great for that matter!

An early morning run.

December: Well, I managed to wait until AFTER Thanksgiving before I cranked up the sounds of Christmas.

my favorite Christmas songs

That’s it! I’m going to bed.

I love your recap. It’s been a fun year over at your house. I’m glad you could share some of it with us. You have given me lots of new and fun things to try with my kids. Thank you! I hope you have a great 2011 with your family.

Thank you! Your comment means so much to me. It has been fun sharing and I appreciate you always coming back to see what we are getting into. I have also enjoyed visiting your blog. Thanks to you, I’m going to clean out something and get rid of a few things (just a few) this year. There is more excitement in store for 2011 and I am looking forward to another blessed year.

  • What a fun way to go back over the past year! My blog isn’t a full year old yet, but I may have to try that as a way to celebrate when my blog reaches its first birthday.

I’m really glad that you linked to each of those posts as well, because those recipes sound really tasty! I’m definitely going to have to try some of them out, especially the Cheesy, Cheesy, Cheese Biscuits.

    {I’m on my own personal blog hop, trying to send smiles to strangers and turn strangers into friends:}
