It is always nice to get recognized for something you do…I guess unless you rob a bank or get caught speeding, which I guess in this instance, doesn’t really apply. This is how it went down. One day, I was blogging and minding my own business, and I got recognized. I got recognized not once, but twice by some other mommy (I hope you don’t mind the term) bloggers with a Beautiful Blogger Award. I just have to let all of you know that I’m feeling really, extra-specially beautiful right now.
I was awarded by two mommies whom I too enjoy reading. Actually, I’ve been hanging around Rana of Free to Learn an Lovin’ It and reading about the happenings in her home for a while now. She keeps a book in my hand because I’ve been joining many of the book clubs/challenges in which she participates. I also like her unschooling way of homeschooling her kids. I’m trying to be a little more relaxed and less book/structured oriented in my approach to educating my kids. I think our kids would enjoy playing together, especially the Boy and River because they would love building Legos together all day long.
Adrienne of Four Bad Apples is a relatively new read for me. She too is another homeschooling mommy. Adrienne has also got that green and natural vibe going on that permeates my home. I like the educational activities she does with her children and her craftiness/creativity is wonderful. She doesn’t stop with clothing when it comes to sewing. Adrienne whipped together a pair of baby shoes for one of her daughters. All I could say was totally cute. She has an ETSY store coming to a Web page near you. Keep an eye out.
Rana and Adrienne, thanks so much. I’ll try to wear my crown properly and not tip it to the side of my head. So, let me be sure to follow the rules to ensure it’s mine, mine, mine.
Thank the person that gave you the award. √.
Pass this award on to 15 bloggers you’ve recently discovered and whom you think are fantastic! Hmm. Let me see. The following are listed in no particular order:
1. Mama-Jenn – homeschooling mommy who presents creative and fun projects she does with her children. Mama-Jenn also has a great section (now a blog) called Brown Like Me where she reviews books with “brown” characters in them.
2. Farmama – Sara lives a country life that I would live if I were 100% country girl. Since, I’m only partially country, I enjoy seeing a mommy living off of the fruit of the land. She’s such an inspiration. I think I’ll line-dry some clothes this year.
3. Blue Bird Baby - What can I say about Erin? I love her fashion sense, which is kind of how I use to dress, and she just makes everything seem a little bit more beautiful. Erin does have a bit of the upper-hand since she is a professional photographer, but while reading her blog, I get a sense of calm. Afterwards, I just want to be creative and go make something.
4. Other Such Happenings – Marsha, Marsha, Marsha is another fellow homeschooler. She is a little quirky (I hope she doesn’t mind) and makes me laugh every once in a while, but what really moves me about Marsha is her faith in God. If you need a visual to learn about our Lord and Savior, then learn from Marsha who allows His light to shine through her.
5. Modobject at Home – When I first found Christian’s blog, I was mesmerized by her photography. I love pictures and she uses them well to tell stories. Sometimes, all you need is a photograph (and maybe a few words) to get your message across.
6. Flip Flops and Applesauce - Whenever I want to feel good, I head over to Chrissie’s. What would you expect after hearing the name of her blog? I enjoy doing crafts with my children, but I don’t like making crafts that don’t have much purpose or fall apart a few days later. I like true keepsake crafts and Chrissie and her twin girls make many often and are just so creative.
7. Home Grown Hearts - Another Erin. Usually, there are more Jennifers in the bunch. I enjoy reading through Erin’s approach to teaching her children. She has a lot of little ones around the age of my children and I like the preschool activities she shares.
8. You Know How We’re an Art Family - Joy is not only her name, but also the vibe I get that flows through her home. I got an awesome chili recipe from her blog and I keep going back. She and her children are an artsy/crafty/outdoorsy/natural kind of family and they don’t even homeschool.
9. Turkey Cookies - Jessica is another one of those bloggers who makes me sit back and relax while reading. She gives you a natural calm as you read through her posts and revel in her pictures that make you want to be there. I also like that she’s a “make it from scratch” kind of girl.
10. More than Words - I am not sure why I don’t read more of Alicia because every time I do, I enjoy her blog. I think it may be because she’s in California and I’m not. She is “holding down the fort” for me until my return; whenever that may be. Since, jealousy isn’t a complimentary trait of a woman wearing a crown, I’ll set those emotions aside and just continue reading her blog, as should you.
Ten is about all I can do for now. Do I still get to keep my award? Please, oh please, oh please!
Contact the blogger you pick to let them know they’ve won. Almost done.
